The Global Call to Intercession for North Korea is a call to Christians worldwide to repentance and intercession for the nation of North Korea, which is regarded as the worst persecutor of Christians and the worst human rights violating country in the world today. The purpose of this call to prayer is the fulfillment of 2 Chronicles 7:14 for Korea – that we believers all come to the place of humbling ourselves, seeking God's face, and true repentance so that North Korea will be healed and released to fulfill God's purpose and eternal plan. We earnestly ask all churches, ministries, and individuals worldwide to unite in repentance and unceasing intercession for North Korea as we look to our Lord Jesus Christ with hope.

For Kim Jong Il: Recent reports indicate that North Korea's president, Kim Jong Il may be gravely ill. North Korea has known no other leaders except Kim Jong Il and his deceased father Kim Il Sung throughout its 60-year history. Please pray fervently for Kim Jong Il's salvation and confession of Jesus Christ as Lord, for God to raise up godly leaders and a godly government to replace him, and for this to be a time of great liberation, healing and deliverance for all North Koreans.

For the Captives to be Set Free. There are an estimated 200,000 to 1 million North Koreans, including women and children, currently being held in political concentration camps of the most terrible cruelty. Many are Christians; most are imprisoned because they or their relatives are suspected of being unfaithful to the North Korean regime. In North Korea, three generations of entire families can be imprisoned because a relative is suspected of being unfaithful to the government. An estimated 400,000 to 1 million have died in concentration camps of starvation, torture, and execution since their institution in 1972. Mourn for the immense suffering and mistreatment North Koreans have endured. Please intercede for the liberation of all North Korean captives, for the salvation of all prisoners and guards, for the healing and restoration of all North Korean families and individuals and for all concentration camps to be permanently closed down.

For Human Rights. Please pray for the restoration of human rights to all North Koreans, specifically handicapped persons, children, women, the elderly and the estimated 40 percent of the population that are considered part of the "hostile class"; those who are mercilessly persecuted because they or their relatives are suspected of being unfaithful to or are considered a blemish to the North Korean government. Violations of human rights in North Korea include: torture, murder, rape, slavery, arbitrary imprisonment, starvation, forced abortions and infanticide, gas chambers, and chemical and medical experimentation on prisoners. Millions have starved to death and continue to starve because the regime has prevented the hostile class from receiving aid; all Christian families are classified as hostile. Mourn for the atrocities and crimes that have been committed against the North Korean people. Please intercede for justice, liberty, and abundant life for all those oppressed in North Korea and for all North Koreans worldwide.

For the Starving. North Korea has been devastated by famine; countless millions of North Koreans have starved to death since 1995. Recent reports indicate that the famine is growing more and more severe, with an estimated 1,000 people dying of starvation everyday. This is a humanitarian emergency affecting millions with the government starving those considered to be part of the "hostile class"; those who are mercilessly persecuted because they or their relatives are suspected of being unfaithful to the North Korean government. International food aid has been diverted to the ruling party and the military. Hopelessness and hunger have driven some to cannibalism. Mourn for the immeasurable loss and the hopelessness suffered in North Korea. Please pray for sufficient food to reach those who are starving, breakthroughs for Christian aid workers to reach the poorest communities, for all starving persons to be restored to health, and for an end to the famine.

Concerning Winter. Winters in North Korea are very cold with temperatures below freezing and getting as low as -30C, and greatly compounds the already desperate struggle for survival in North Korea. Because of inadequate shelter, blankets, warm clothes, and fuel many North Koreans have froze to death during winters past. According to the BBC Weather Centre, "Korea has a rather extreme continental climate considering that it is surrounded by water on three sides ... Nowhere else in the world, in a similar latitude, are winters so cold with such frequent frost and snow ... The strong wind-chill factor intensifies the cold so that warm winter clothing is essential." Please intercede for the wellbeing and supernatural deliverance of all North Korean families and individuals this winter, for sufficient blankets, food, warm clothing, shelter, medicine, fuel, and all necessities to be provided for those in need, for all North Koreans to be comforted and warmed by God's love, and for the Sun of Justice to arise over North Korea with healing in His wings!

For North Korean Children. Countless North Korean children have been orphaned; many are enslaved, abused, homeless, starving, sick, or living in dangerous circumstances. The tragedy and suffering they have endured is inestimable. Please pray for all North Korean children to be rescued from the powers of darkness; that God would bring about a mighty deliverance so that this entire generation will live, have hope and a future and know His love, and for each of these children to be completely healed and completely blessed through the power of Jesus Christ.

For Refugees in China. Hundreds of thousands of North Koreans have fled to China to escape persecution and starvation. China, in violation of International Law and the treaties to which it is a signatory, aggressively hunts and forcibly returns North Korean refugees back to North Korea; countless refugees have been killed and families torn apart. Without rights or protection, many refugees, including children, become victims of human trafficking and other horrific crimes. The trafficking of North Korean women in China has been widespread; an estimated 80% of North Korean women in China are sexually exploited; subjected to horrifying sexual abuse and enslavement. Mourn for the injustice and intense violation of North Korean human rights in China. Please pray that the Chinese government will repent for the crimes it has committed against the North Korean people and stop forcing refugees to return to North Korea, for all human traffickers to be stopped and come to repentance, for justice, revival and transformation and for the liberation and salvation of all North Koreans in China.

For Freedom and Spiritual Awakening. The majority of people in North Korea have never heard the Word of God, or heard the name of Jesus Christ. They are forced to worship Kim Jong-Il and his deceased father, Kim Il-Sung as gods and Christianity is seen as the greatest threat to the North Korean regime. In 2005, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom reported that "there are virtually no personal freedoms in North Korea and no protection for universal human rights." Please pray for the walls of idolatry and communism to utterly collapse and for new and godly government, for God to raise up Christian leaders within North Korea, and for freedom and spiritual awakening to know the Truth for all North Korean people.

For the North Korean Government. The North Korean regime is considered the worst persecutor of Christians and worst violator of human rights in the world, detaining more political and religious prisoners than any other country. Pray for the members of the North Korean government to have a Damascus Road Experience; that as Paul was converted through seeing the Glory of Jesus Christ, all of the members of the North Korean government would now also see Christ's Glory, experience His salvation and become servants of the true and living God.

For the Destiny of the North Korean Church. North Korean Christians have regularly suffered the most barbaric torture, atrocities, and execution for having faith in Jesus Christ; they are widely regarded as the most persecuted believers in the world. Yet in the midst of such persecution, North Korean believers have displayed faithfulness and love for God that is extraordinary; testimonies reveal that North Korean Christians in concentration camps refuse to deny the Lord Jesus Christ even under the most painful and cruel torture and even unto death. Christians in concentration camps have been reported to lay down their lives for the sake of others, volunteering to take punishment for another's offenses. Some North Korean refugees after coming to know Christ in China have decided to return to North Korea in order to spread the Gospel. Please intercede for God's protection and deliverance for all North Korean Christians, for the North Korean Church to grow and increase in numbers that all North Koreans worldwide be saved, for God's great destiny and plan for North Korean believers to now come to full fulfillment and that the nations would be transformed by their witness.

For Forgiveness, Reconciliation, and Redemption of Nations. Pray for forgiveness, revival and God's blessings for Japan, Russia, the United States, China, South and North Korea and all of the nations and individuals that played a role in the Japanese Occupation of Korea (1910-45), division of Korea (August 10th, 1945), Korean War conflict (1950-53) and the current Communist North Korean state (September 9th, 1948 - Present). Pray for repentance and spiritual awakening for Koreans worldwide to realize that the warfare which has occurred over Korea has at its root been a spiritual one, with Satan seeking to prevent Korea's role in the fulfillment of the Great Commission and what God began in the 1907 Christian revival in northern Korea. Pray that Koreans will be empowered now to forgive, bless, and truly release all those who have hurt them in history, for repentance and spiritual awakening worldwide that will lead to the healing, revival and true reconciliation of all of these nations, and for God to use every one of them mightily in the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

For Workers. Please pray for the dedicated workers around the world that have been laboring to bring about change for North Koreans including the underground Christians within North Korea, those who have escaped North Korea and are now Christian leaders in South Korea, those involved in the global prayer movement for North Koreans; all of those working within the North Korea human rights movement including those who have escaped North Korea and now are working to bring freedom and human rights to their homeland, for those in China and other nations helping North Korean refugees, and for Christian NGOs that work inside North Korea. Please pray for their protection, spiritual empowerment, and guidance, for unity and teamwork through the Holy Spirit between them, for the Christian Church throughout the world to unite in repentance and intercession for North Korea, and for God to send more workers into the harvest. Pray that God would awaken and empower the Global Church to be ready and respond to the great changes which are coming to the north.

For Revival and Transformation in Northern Korea. Before the installation of the Communist regime in 1945, the area now known as North Korea was the center of a historic Christian revival. In 1907 the Church in Pyongyang underwent a great spiritual awakening through confession of sin and repentance that brought the outpouring of the Holy Spirit; Pyongyang became known as the "Jerusalem of the East". Pray that the Global Church would recognize the intense spiritual warfare that has been occurring over northern Korea since then and would now fight to re-claim the Korean peninsula for God's Kingdom, that northern Korea's coming revival would be even greater than the former, and for God's Kingdom to fully come now with power throughout North Korea.

For Unification. The three-year conflict known as the Korean War (1950-53) between North and South Korea resulted in the loss of an estimated over 4 millions lives. North and South Korea are still technically at war because the Korean War armistice was never followed by a peace treaty. Since the Korean War, several millions of North Koreans have been murdered through starvation, torture, and execution under the communist regimes of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Pray for the war to finally end through repentance, love, and compassion; that 2 Chronicles 7:14 be fulfilled for all of Korea -- South and North -- and that God's refreshing and healing flood completely overtake us. Pray that South Koreans would have favor for North Koreans and now receive and embrace them with love and understanding. Pray for the unification of North and South Korea under the banner of Jesus Christ, that all walls of division and prejudice would now crumble, and that God would bring healing, reconciliation, and forgiveness in Jesus Name.

For Korea's Destiny in Christ. Please join with believers worldwide in repentance for all of Korea's sins and in covenanting North and South Korea to the Purposes of God and the Lordship of Jesus Christ from now on and forevermore. Ask God to come into Korea and work together for good all that Satan meant for harm throughout Korea's history. Pray that He would heal, restore and harvest the whole of Korea back to Himself and for Korea to arise as one to wholeheartedly and faithfully serve God and be a blessing to the nations. Pray that what God began in 1907 through the Pyongyang Revival would now be perfected throughout the Korean peninsula, and throughout the world!

For the Restoration of the Church Worldwide. Pray for the fulfillment of 2 Chronicles 7:14 worldwide; that we, the Global Church and Body of Christ would humble ourselves, pray and seek God's face, and turn from our wicked ways so that God's healing flood will be released upon the nations. Pray that our Lord's personal prayer, that "they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. (John 17:21)", would now come to fulfillment; that we would suffer with all of our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world and truly love one another as He has loved us (John 13:34), that the Body of Christ will be healed and made perfect in unity (John 17:23) to manifest God's glory to the nations. Pray that we would be awakened by the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13) to see the whiteness of the world harvest (John 4:35) and to understand God's love and urgency for the nations (Mark 16:15); that we would pray, give, and go for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 13:44-46) and Christ's Great Commission (Matthew 28:19).

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?" Isaiah 58:6
